Solent Gymnastics Club opened in September 2019 with just a few members attending a weekly recreational gymnastics class at Cowplain Activity Centre. Like most recreational gymnastics clubs we had to set the equipment up and down for each session as we were using a multi-use space. 

By November 2019, the club had filled its three weekly classes at the Activity Centre and now had a growing waiting list, so the decision was made expand. Due to lack of hall availability at the Activity Centre we took on a second venue at Oaklands Catholic School running additional classes on Wednesday evenings and Saturday mornings.  This soon took off and we were back to our extensive waiting lists again and providing gymnastics to 100+ children every week.

In March 2020, the club was forced to close due to national covid lockdowns, our gymnasts were determined to keep up with their gymnastics training and classes moved online via zoom. Once we were allowed and it was safe to do so, the club began a phased reopening.

Although a very difficult time for all, the club was soon back to its thriving classes and continued to provide a fun and sociable environment for its members.

In 2021 it was clear that we needed to expand further with now over 200 members and children waiting for up to a year before gaining a space at the club, so the hunt began for a more permeant premised that the club could call home. ​After looking at countless properties, we finally found our current facility and this opened in July 2024! 

We are excited to now be offering our gymnasts a state of the art environment and equipment to train and further progress within their gymnastics journeys. ​​​​​
